About these fonts

Modern sans-serif fonts have clean, simple letterforms with no serifs. They are the default for websites, apps, startups and branding because they stay legible on screens. This list includes dependable geometric faces such as Poppins, Montserrat and Outfit, plus more distinctive picks such as Space Grotesk, Syne and Unbounded when you want character.

For body text, favour the plainer faces. Syne, Unbounded and Orbitron are display fonts and work best in headings and logos. All previews on this page use the regular weight; many of these fonts have more weights available in the download.

Licence and installation

Every font on this page comes from the open-source Google Fonts library and is free for personal and commercial use under the SIL Open Font License 1.1 (a few under Apache 2.0). Each zip contains the font file, the licence text and a short readme. To install on Windows, unzip, right-click the font and choose Install; on Mac, double-click the file and click Install Font. The live previews show the regular weight and basic Latin characters; the downloads are the complete font files.
