Geometric Shapes
Most of these symbols come from the Geometric Shapes block (U+25A0 to U+25FF): solid and outlined squares, circles, triangles and diamonds such as ■ □ ● ○ ▲ △ ◆ ◇. They are plain text, so they scale with your font size and take its color.
Their names use “black” for solid and “white” for outlined shapes, which has nothing to do with the color you will actually see. They work as bullet points, list markers, simple dividers, progress dots (●●●○○) and decoration.
Practical Tips
- For a progress or rating row, use a solid and an outlined shape from the same family (● and ○) so both have the same size.
- The same shape can be drawn at different sizes in different fonts. If a row looks uneven, switch to another shape.
- Use shapes as bullets in places that do not support real lists, such as a bio or a caption.
- Screen readers announce each shape by name, so avoid long runs of shapes used only for decoration.

Frequently Asked Questions
What do “black” and “white” mean in shape names?
They describe the design: “black” shapes are filled, “white” shapes are outlined. The actual color is your text color.
Why do my shapes look different sizes?
Fonts draw these characters at different sizes. Pick shapes that look consistent in your font, or use only one family.
Can I use shapes as bullet points?
Yes. Paste the shape at the start of each line. It is a simple way to make a list where real bullets are not available.
